On 14 OCT 2006, the PRT along with local government officials conducted a ribbon cutting ceremony in the district of Khayr Khot. The Sub-governor, local shura, former Director of Public Health, the PRT, and USAID attended the event. The event went well with speeches from all of the above organizations. The PRT also donated some medical equipment that was acquired through Spartan CMA coordinator. This is the model clinic used to showcase the addition of the new Non Governmental Organization (NGO), Just for Afghan Capacity of Knowledge (JACK), along with the government medical officials. Although the medical community in Paktika Province is heading in the right direction, we encountered a few problems with how Governmental (GO) and NGOs should work together. The two administrative problems occurred over the past week with the start of the new NGO. The first problem is that the NGO fired a doctor at the clinic because he did not conform to the contract that was signed upon employment, and the second problem was the NGO is not following their full contract for supplying medicine and salaries to the healthcare workers of the district.
