SIGACT :%%% LATE AND FINAL REPORT: WHO: %%% SOI (Unilateral) WHEN: 222000AUG09 WHERE: POI: %%% POO: %%% WHAT: ROCKET, Confirmed by %%%/A/%%%, Ineffective HOW: SOI %%% reported to the %%% TOC that there was a rocket launch sited by his SOI Checkpoint. MTF UPDATE: At 231900AUG09, POI reportedly %%% West of the %%% SOI checkpoint South of the MAS gate. POO site was NW of the intersection of Copper where the road splits off to %%% and was on a %%%. UPDATE: At 232015AUG09, %%% with %%% with SAF (%%%) to try and locate site. UPDATE: At 241330AUG09, %%% accompanied CF patrol out and showed them the POO and POI sites. They recovered pieces of debris from the POO site and it is being sent to %%% for exploitation. %%% brought a RPG rocket onto MAS and %%% it was the rocket from the attack. %%%/A/%%% reduced the UXO as there was no %%% on MAS. ROLL UP: %%% x Rocket %%% was not available due to a mission they were conducting in the %%% BN %%% IA AO. S2 ASSESSMENT: Due likely to inexperience using these specific %%% for conducting this type of attack, it is likely that this attack was carried out hastily. 05AUG09 there was an unknown explosion %%% East of Tower %%%. HUMINT engagements were indicative of an IDF threat for MAS. Due to the death of %%%, one of the individuals associated with the IED DET on 30JUL09, -- -%%% (Bayonet %%% # ), ( %%% # %%%) and %%% were planning to conduct a %%% based IDF attack due to the death of %%%. It is likely that these individuals, possibly associated with %%%, were either directly involved in the attack, or responsible for supplying individuals with %%% required. As of 24AUG09 we are currently awaiting results from the exploitation of recovered debris from the 22AUG09 UXO discovery.
