741/2 was notified at 0830Z that the ANP found an IED IVO 42SYE 3310 0082. 741/2 was told that the ANP would bring the IED to FOB Bostick sometime during the day. The IED was originally reported as 9lbs. of black powder. Upon arrival, the 741/2 TL had the ANP place the IED in the IED examination area. After the 741/2 TL cleared the IED of hazards, 741/2 began examination of the IED. The IED consisted of a tin can filled with approximately 11lbs. of UBE and 5' of detonating cord. The UBE was identified as Wabox and no means of initiation or blasting cap were present. The ANP stated that the IED was buried in the middle of the road with the orange detonating cord running off the road. This route is regularly traveled by the ASG and the ANP; they are believed to have been the targets. All Items were taken to a local disposal area for detonation. Event Closed at 131320ZJAN09.
