NARRATIVE: This patrol consisted of 1st Plt., TM Commanche, a 60mm mortar section, and 3rd Plt., 3rd Co., 3-2 Kandak. The purpose of the patrol was to transport and distribute Wheat Seed to the people of Sarobi District. The operation took place in four phases. Phase one consisted of movement to Sarobi District. Phase two consisted of securing the District Center and distributing the Wheat Seed. Phase three consisted of meeting with the local leadership. Phase four consisted of the movement of all friendly elements back to FOB Orgune. The patrol departed FOB OE at 0500z after a joint US/ANA convoy brief and rehearsals. The patrol proceeded south on RTE Honda to the Sarobi DC. Once arriving at the district center, the US forces established an outer cordon to restrict vehicular traffic. The ANA formed an inner cordon that provided crowd control. Finally, the Sarobi ANP controlled searching the personnel entering the distribution point. The mayor of Sarobi and his Minister of Agriculture ensured that an equal amount of wheat seed was distributed to each village and that each villages leadership oversaw the distribution of the seed to the individual farmers in their villages. After the distribution of the seed was complete, the mayor of Sarobi, the police chief of Sarobi, the police chief of Gomal, the ANA platoon leader, and the patrol leader met to discuss the various issues in Sarobi and Gomal. The security in Sarobi has been good for quite some time with nothing significant to report. The mayor is working on a by-village list of the poorest people in the district. The mayor was also concerned that several projects requested that had not been started specifically the road extension, a girls school and additional solar lights. The police chief was concerned about his ability to patrol without additional vehicles. After the meeting concluded, the patrol reconsolidated and returned via RTE Honda to FOB OE.
