POTF-AF Daily Summary PERIOD: //121330ZAPR07 TO 131330ZAPR07 // POC: MSG Tim Bland, S3 NCOIC, POTF-AF RC EAST Positive Impact indicators: TPD HQ 1320 (FOB Salerno, Khost Province) conducted aerial LLD with 12 boxes dispersed on 19 separate targets in Spera, Gayan and Bermel districts targeting insurgent routes, safe havens and staging areas along the eastern Boarder. TPD 1330 HQ (JAF, Nangarhar, Province) TPD OIC moved to FOB Methar-Lam and was awaiting arrival of TPT 1333. TPD NCOIC went on mission with TF Diamondback who is new to the area to conduct F2F with LNs just outside Methar-Lam PRT. TPD HQ 1640 (BAF, Parwan Province) completed building a newspaper distribution box to be placed at ECP1 for the ISAF newspaper. Negative Impact indicators: NSTR Future Plans: TPD HQ 1320 (FOB Salerno, Khost Province) is working on developing a play list for audio cassettes featuring popular music and messages from Hamid Karzia and the Khost Governor. TPT 1324 (FOB Bermel, Patika Province) is preparing for combat patrol and MEDCAP in Godikheyl. TPT will support operations with dissemination of PSYOP products and conduct F2F engagements. TPT will continue coordinating post-assessments of CATFURY LLF drop. TPD 1330 HQ (JAF, Nangarhar, Province) will continue to coordinate the integration of TPT 1333 with the new TF Diamondback. TPD HQ 1640 (BAF, Parwan Province) attended IO working group to follow up on UXO mission and discuss TAGAB MEDCAP. TPT 1642 (Chamkani, Paktya Province) will meet with NGOs to further discuss options for the area and will continue working on the PSYOP plan to include the newspaper plan. TPT 1643 (FOB Shkin, Paktika Province) reports receiving the second bid for billboard construction project and reports the cost per sign with installation is $325.00. RC SOUTH Positive Impact indicators: TPT 1314 (FOB Farah, Farah Province) reported while on mission with ODA ISO a CRP near Farah Province, they stopped by at an ANP checkpoint to give products to ANP to pass out while conducting CP operations. TPT gave the items to ANP to help show their loyalty to IROA. The items included Afghan flags, stickers, handbills, and other novelty items. TPT also gave the ANP items to help fortify the check point. The ANP CDR expressed his thanks to USSF for the help. TPT spoke with the guards at the checkpoint who stated they felt safer and confident with the products they had received. ODA 18A gave the ANP CDR 2 Kaito radios to keep at the checkpoint which help build rapport. Negative Impact indicators: ETT (FOB Laghman, Qalat, Zabul Province) TPD 1310 tasked the ETT to verify that Qalat radio station was robbed by the TB and is no longer operational. Future Plans: ETT (FOB Laghman, Qalat, Zabul Province) received the new ROM TPT and worked on getting the new team integrated with ODA. ETT responded to a request from TPD 1310 to get a radio in a box for a temporary fix to the Qalat station. TPD HQ 1310 (KAF, Kandahar Province) presented a plan for future PSYOP support in the Sangin Valley and the Mobile Mullah plan. TPD HQ is tracking information about the Qalat radio station break-in and robbery and working a plan for a radio in a box as a temporary fix. TPD HQ plans to meet with 3 new mobile Mullah candidates to interview and decide if they fit the concept. TPT 1312 (FOB Spin Buldak, Kandahar Province) is working with ODA and 18F for future mission planning to see how to incorporate PSYOP. TPT TL is developing a concept of a pocket Koran which would incorporate a few passages not the whole Koran. The concept was due to a little book of Koran passages found on a previous CONOP which had been modified and had pro-Taliban messages. TPT would like to counter this with this new concept. TPT offered supplies and material and if the ETT is going, requested they take pictures and do an assessment of the ANA handing out these products. TPT will meet with the manager of Nawbahar radio station at Camp Spann to renegotiate the contract which expires 26 Apr.
